Customer Testimonials
I just have to tell you that your life jacket saved the life of our bulldog, Libbey, today. After the day out on the River in Charleston, SC, we had come in
from day out on the River in Charleston and were walking up the floating dock
when Lib made a turn too soon, and splashed right into the water...

Good Dental Care: It's as Important
for Your Dog's Health as for Yours |
 |
| |
|
Dental care is one of the most overlooked
and neglected areas of pet healthcare. Your dog's dental health is as important to his
or her well-being as yours is to you. Dogs depend on their teeth more than people do. They not only use them for eating, but almost as a hand, as well. The canine teeth of working dogs are especially important, allowing them to carry prey and other objects.
The American Animal Hospital Association
(AAHA) Dental Care Guidelines recommend
regular oral examinations and dental cleanings, under
general anesthesia, for all adult dogs. AAHA recommends
these procedures at least annually starting at one year of
age for small-breed dogs, and at two years of age for
large-breed dogs.
Veterinary dental care should begin early, while your pet is
still a puppy. Puppies have 28 temporary teeth that erupt at
about three to four weeks of age. They have 42 permanent
teeth that begin to emerge at about four months of age. AAHA recommends that veterinarians evaluate puppies for
problems related to the deciduous (baby) teeth, missing or
extra teeth, swellings and oral development.
The key steps to take in maintaining the
good health of your pet's teeth and gums
include: regular visits to your veterinarian
every 6 to 18 months, professional
dental care, when needed, and proper dental care at home. Regularly brushing your dog's teeth is an
important part of any preventive dental program. Special
toothbrushes and toothpastes are available, to provide the
best protection for dogs' teeth. Your veterinarian can show
you the proper way to brush your pet's teeth.
Proper dental care can add as much as five
years to your pet's life! Talk to your veterinarian about
developing a dental care plan for your "best friend".
Neither you nor your pet will regret it.
